Incanto Group is one of the biggest and most successful producers of exclusive upholstered furniture and home accessoires in Italy. The company was born in 2000 and is nowadays present in all 5 continents, with nearly 2100 customers in 61 countries. The group consists of three brands: Incanto, Sofitalia and Giovanni Sforza Luxury Collection.
The company is based in Matera, in the heart of Italy’s understructured South. The name Matera quickly wakes the reminescence of the famous „Sassi“: caves, in which up to the sixties innumerable families lived und whose discovery provoked a shock in Italy about the situation in the „Mezzogiorno“. Up to these days there is hardly any industry in southern Italy and a lot of courage is required to set up an international business in this region.
Giovanni Sforza, 38-years-old founder of the family business, comes from Altamura near Matera. Second of seven brothers he leaves school at the age of twelve to financially support the family working as a leather cutter at a local producer of upholstered furniture. Driven by eagerness and curiosity, he swiftly moves into different job profiles inside the company and later founds his own business with an aunt’s loan of 500.000 Lira. Nowadays his brothers all work for the company.
In spite of the strong internationality, with production sites in Romania and China, handcrafting and care for the detail, strong selection of the prime materials and design/development are kept safely in Italian hands. „Made in Italy“ with strong ties to the home slab is at the roots of the company’s philosophy and the key for it’s success. Incanto’s trademark is exclusive furniture manufactured according to the best Italian carftsmenship, with extreme precision and care.
